SPCA fashion fair in uMhlanga to support sustainability and furry friends
SPCA Durban will hold its first fashion fair next Saturday at Reddam House Umhlanga.
FASHION meets compassion on April 12 when the SPCA Durban hosts its first-ever fashion fair, an event dedicated to raising funds and awareness for animals in need while promoting sustainable fashion.
Taking place at Reddam House Umhlanga’s mini theatre, the fair offers a safe and welcoming space for fashion lovers to explore a diverse range of pre-loved and new clothing, accessories, and more.
Shoppers will find dresses, bags, jewellery, men’s and children’s wear, shoes, and other accessories, all at incredibly affordable prices. Items range from as little as R20 to R450, with the higher-end prices reserved for branded and newer pieces.

Beyond shopping, the event encourages community involvement, said SPCA marketing manager, Tanya Fleischer.
“Those looking to declutter their wardrobes for a cause are welcome to donate gently used fashion items, which can be dropped off at the venue or collected upon request,” she said.
She added that the fair was about more than just fashion – it’s about making a difference.
“By choosing second-hand clothing, shoppers actively support sustainable fashion practices, helping to reduce waste and preserve the environment. At the same time, proceeds from the fair will go toward supporting animals in need, making this a shopping experience with heart. Thanks to the generous support of Reddam House for letting us use the venue at no cost,” said Fleischer.
The organisation is no stranger to sustainability. With its two thrift stores – one at the SPCA premises in Springfield and the other in Sunningdale – the organisation has been instrumental in reselling pre-loved items for decades. These also include books at its popular book sale at The Crescent Shopping Mall once a month.
