Armed gang hijacks resident in Avoca

The suspects forcibly removed the resident from his vehicle.

A GANG of four men hijacked a resident on Falkirk Avenue on Monday (July 21) just after 19:00 on a dead-end road behind the Firwood Road Municipal Pool.

KZN VIP Paramedics spokesperson Gareth Naidoo confirmed the suspects had fled with the resident’s white Isuzu bakkie.

“Four armed suspects arrived in an unknown vehicle and approached the victim. They produced firearms and forcibly removed him from the vehicle and fled the scene,” he said.

Greenwood Park police also arrived on scene following the incident.

In a separate incident a Toyota Dyna, which was stolen from outside a business premises in Springfield Park, was recovered just hours later.

Netstar, Durban North SAPS Trio Crimes Unit, together with Marshall Security, helped in the recovery of the vehicle on Friday afternoon (July 18).

“The vehcile was stolen on Beechfield Crescent. Within minutes of activation, and through joint efforts involving private security partners, Netstar’s ground team, and the Durban North SAPS Trio Crimes Unit, the vehicle was located abandoned in M-Section, KwaMashu. The owner was contacted and opted not to open a case,” Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell said.
