Raising ‘fun’ds on the run at Crusaders Running Club

The theme for this year’s event is ‘I dressed for the wrong event’.

A TOTAL of R3000 was raised for charity at this year’s Beer Mile hosted by the Crusaders Running Club recently.

The annual event was a day about good vibes, having fun on the run and, importantly, bragging rights for local running clubs, all the while raising funds for charity.

The theme for this year’s event is ‘I dressed for the wrong event’.

Participants could either enter as an individual or in the team relay event where competitors downed a beer or cider before running around the sports field.

Crusaders member and one of the organisers Chris Young confirmed that the funds raised at this year’s event will now be donated to Enviro Fixers Durban North.

“We had such great feedback from the community and the different running clubs that competed. There was fun and entertainment for all. This year’s event was without a doubt the best one ever. In the past we’ve struggled to raise a decent amount but we are blown away by how everything panned out this year. From start to finish the vibe was unbeatable. We chose Enviro Fixers because of the incredible work they do in our community,” he said.

Young said thoughts had already turned to next year’s event.

The best dressed award went to the Pink Pony Club while Faku Chiefs Athletics Club won the team event.
