“Paramedics found the pedestrian, a male believed to be in his 30s, and one of the drivers, also a male, believed to be in his forties, had sustained critical injuries. Despite paramedics’ best attempt to stabilise the two they went into a state of cardiac arrest and both men passed away on scene,” he said.

Approximately 15 other occupants from the vehicles had sustained various injuries ranging from moderate to serious.

KZN VIP Paramedics spokesperson Gareth Naidoo said the scene remains active as emergency personnel attend to the victims and conduct investigations.

“At this stage, the circumstances leading to the crash cannot be confirmed.“
