Greenwood Park Primary learner shines at spelling bee

The Grade Three learner competed at an Umlazi District competition.

THE word ‘fortuitous’ would be challenging for most of us to spell it correctly, but it proved no obstacle for Greenwood Park Primary School learner Hadassah Pather who triumphed at the recent Grade Three Spelling Bee competition.

The Grade Three learner was one of 88 participants to compete at the Umlazi District competition.

“This was my first spelling bee competition and I was excited and shocked with the result. It was a proud moment for me, my family and my school,” she said.

She is also the top speller for her weekly spelling tests at her school.

Hadassah said her mother is her biggest supporter.

“She always believes in me and I want to thank her because she helped me for the competition,” she said.

While she has shown her smarts in English, Hadassah’s favourite subject is Afrikaans.
