Stolen vehicle recovered in Greenwood Park

A stolen Toyota Corolla Cross was recovered in Greenwood Park after a joint operation involving private security, tracking teams, and SAPS.

A white Toyota Corolla Cross reported stolen outside the Home Affairs Department in Arena Park, Chatsworth, on Monday was successfully recovered in Greenwood Park yesterday following a co-ordinated operation involving private security companies, tracking specialists, and police.

According to reports, the vehicle owner had parked the car at around 10:00 and discovered it missing roughly 40 minutes later. The theft was immediately reported to the SAPS and the vehicle tracking company.

Initial tracking efforts on Monday were unsuccessful. However, yesterday morning (October 21) signals from the stolen vehicle were detected in the Greenwood Park area.

A large-scale joint search was swiftly launched, involving Swift Private Security, Diamond Protection Services, SS Tracking, and Greenwood Park SAPS. A helicopter was also deployed to provide aerial support during the search.

After an extensive ground and air operation, the stolen vehicle was located inside a garage on a residential property in Greenwood Park. According to witnesses, the property’s occupant fled moments before response teams arrived.

Upon inspection, officers discovered that the vehicle’s licence plates had been altered and its registration details changed, suggesting deliberate efforts to conceal its identity. The vehicle was subsequently handed over to Greenwood Park SAPS for further investigation.

Sanveer Sooklall, spokesperson for Swift Security, praised the collaborative effort that led to the vehicle’s recovery.

“This successful operation highlights the importance of rapid co-ordination between private security, tracking partners, and law enforcement,” Sooklall said.

“We commend all teams involved for their swift action and commitment to fighting vehicle-related crime.”
