My neighbour discovered a number of intruders in his property when he arrived home at about 8pm two weeks ago. He was threatened with a firearm and the intruders fled with a large red bag full of valuables. I heard his wife and children screaming for help, I shouted to my wife to call 10111 and dashed next door.
We went through the ransacked house but found no-one. As we exited, the first police vehicle arrived, they were told that one of the men had been seen running away dressed in a blue overall carrying a large red bag.
This was radioed immediately. Within minutes more police vehicles arrived with the news that a Marshall Security vehicle had apprehended the man in blue carrying the red bag in Ashley Avenue!
His friends had split up and it appears that all the stolen goods were recovered. A Joint Control Room has recently been established at Durban North SAPS sharing their frequency with the local private security companies, spreading the tentacles of the law incredibly. The old saying “United we Stand” is very true. Well done everyone!
