Crusaders support charity in club fundraiser

Participants were also asked to take dog and cat food to donate to the SPCA.

MEMBERS of the Crusaders Running Club came dressed to the theme for the club’s Running Beer Mile last Saturday. The event, now in its fourth year raised funds for the Durban & Coast SPCA as well as the Sunflower Fund and will act as a general fundraiser for the club.

Participants were also asked to take dog and cat food to donate to the SPCA.

Chairman of the club, Mark Reeves said he was impressed with the turnout and the dress-up competition.

“The theme for the day was the dress-up in anything with the letters C, R and U and we had so many unicorns on the day that we had our first ever beer mile unicorn race. The weather wasn’t great with the strong blustery winds but everyone who came out to support the event was absolutely phenomenal.

“I think as a club we are all about helping where we can and through the fundraiser we were able to raise more than R1 000 for the charities and we had loads of pet food donated towards the SPCA cause which was fantastic,” he said.
