Rain decides DSG and Capitals clash at Centurion
Umpires deemed conditions too unsafe for play and the match was called off without a ball being bowled.
DESPITE the best efforts of all involved, the Betway SA20 return clash between Durban’s Super Giants and the Pretoria Capitals at SuperSport Park was abandoned without a ball being bowled on Sunday.
DSG were looking to go to the top of the log if they claimed a second successive win over the team from Pretoria and play was set to get underway, however the umpires deemed conditions too unsafe for play.
Earlier DSG had won the toss and elected to bowl first before the players were forced to sit for more than three hours before the teams were set to play a five over match.
Unfortunately, the outfield became an area of concern for the umpires, and they called the match off.
The result sees DSG go to the top of the log on six points ahead of MI Cape Town who have five points from their two matches.
Durban’s Super Giants are back home on Tuesday when they face the defending champions the Sunrisers Eastern Cape at Kingsmead Stadium.
