Fitness put to the test at the Cavanagh Trail Run

The run was a great combination of challenge, good company and spectacular scenery

Avid trail runners and those adventurous at heart, secured their passage to the scenic and challenging Cavanagh Trail Run on Sunday, June 19.

The trail run got off to a rather cold and early start at the Wagendrift Dam. Participants stood around a fire pit just before the organiser, Brian Taylor gave the race briefings for both distances.

The run was a great combination of challenge, good company and spectacular scenery. “This year’s event was to try out a new route, which received an overwhelming response from both the walkers and runners.

“They remarked positively on the excellent course, accompanied by great views. We will now build on this platform and grow it into a bigger and better race in the near future. Big thanks to the club members for making the day memorable,” commented the trail run organisers.

The day turned out to be a beautiful sunny one, which ended with the participants basking in the sun. The trial run organisers would like to thank the businesses who sponsored lunch and refreshments it was much appreciated.
