An RTI officer was attacked and robbed at Settlers Park on Monday afternoon.
The officer, who was on-duty at the time, was seated in his vehicle at Settlers Park and did not notice two men approaching the car. One of them was armed with a knife and surprised the officer. The two young men wore brown clothing and beanies on their heads.
The knife-wielding criminals stole the officer’s firearm, cash and cell-phone. The officer was stabbed in the hand during the incident, and his other hand was also injured as he tried to fight off his attackers. Sharaj paramedics treated the injured officer at the scene and then took him to hospital. He sustained moderate injuries. Police are investigating a case of robbery.
“It is so sad to see that even our officers who are here to help us are getting assaulted by thugs,” commented one upset businessman.
