This was the point emphasised by newly elected president, Ben Chowles at a first meeting with the new executive committee last week.

He said the Sakekamer will work in close cooperation with the Newcastle Business Unity (NBU) and other role-players.

“We are involved with structures in terms of projects both old and new.”

Mr Chowles said he expected pure motive and commitment to a common goal from his fellow exco members.

“They are here to serve, not to receive.”

Mr Chowles revealed the Sakekamer intended to launch an entrepreneurial drive for both young and old residents, similar in concept to the popular ‘Idols’ series.

More details will confirmed at a later stage.

Sakekamer exco members are: Ben Chowles (president), Japie Myburgh (first vice-president), NT Oosthuizen (second vice-president), Gerald Gadd, Karel Frackers, Hennie Pelser, San-Marie Knop, Morne Seaman, Liana Engelbrecht and Rolf Stucky.
