New priest at All Saints Anglican Church

She accepted God's call to serve as a minister and has now accepted a post at the All Saints Anglican Church in Ladysmith

The All Saints Anglican Church is happy to now have a new priest. There has been no regular priest at the Anglican Church since the retirement of Reverend Jean Smith last year. So it’s no wonder that the whole congregation were elated and welcomed Rev Dr Makhosi Nzimande on Sunday morning. Rev Dr Nzimande was handed the licence as assistant priest of the church.

Educated in Umlazi, Durban, she has a post-graduate degree in Anglican Liturgy from Cambridge University. She was head of the Theology Department in KZN and holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Brite Divinity School in Texas, USA. She is also a member of many committees in the Diocese of Natal. In her youth already, she dedicated herself to many church activities. She accepted God’s call to serve as a minister and has now accepted a post at the All Saints Anglican Church in Ladysmith.

Bishop Tsietsi Seleoane handed over her licence during the regular service on Sunday. Archdeacon John Green delivered the sermon. In her short speech, Rev Dr Nzimande told the congregation that “even though I am the priest of this church, it is only the Holy Spirit who will lead us all”. Church warden Ms Zama thanked everyone and invited all to a grand tea on the campus itself.

Having been a lecturer, Rev Dr Nzimande is sure to deliver powerful sermons that will uplift her new congregation. “We are sure she will be a beacon of guidance not only to the members of this church, but also to all communities in and around Ladysmith. We all pray for her new endeavour” is the message from the church.
