Torch burns for 20 years of democracy

Later, a street carnival was held in front of the Umzinyathi offices on Victoria Street, before the torch left for Ladysmith.

Umzinyathi hosted the 20 Years of Democracy Torch run, which is currently doing the rounds throughout KZN. The torch entered the district from Pietermaritzburg on Thursday, accompanied by events in Greytown.
On Friday, the convoy, accompanied by MECs and other political dignitaries, travelled to Pomeroy via Msinga before entering Dundee. A strategic planning session was held at the Department of Public Works office, before a public event in the McKenzie Street hall, where Speaker Mdluli, MEC Hadebe and Umzinyathi Mayor James Mthethwa addressed the crowd.
