Bonginkosi Shoba, also a keen rugby player, was lucky to be admitted to Dundee Secondary School after he left for Gauteng while he was a learner at Dundee Junior School in 2012, at which time he was in Grade 7. Bonginkosi is seen here with the Dundee Secondary School Principal Thulani Mahaye, who assisted Bonginkosi by admitting him into Grade 9. Next to Mr Mahaye is Mr Ismail, a local businessman who donated a full uniform to Bonginkosi after he was contacted by Mr Mahaye.
Principal Mahaye was contacted by Mrs Chivers, who knew Bonginkosi from his days as a pupil at Dundee Junior School . Principal Mahaye thanked Mr Ismail of Ismail’s Trading Store in Dundee for donating the school uniform to Bonginkosi in partnership with the school. Bonginkosi’s mother died in 2007, and he does not know his father. His foster care grant was terminated after he went to stay in Gauteng, resulting in hard times for Bonginkosi. His problems have been alleviated due to the generosity of some members of the community.
