Finding his words through painting
“I feel I can express myself better through painting than communicating through words,” he explained.
It has been said a picture can say a thousand words and for Vinesh Amichand, this phrase holds truth.
“I feel I can express myself better through painting than communicating through words,” he explained.
Finding solace in art as a child, Vinesh said a large part of his childhood went to sketching and painting, and has continued in his adult life.
“I like being able to create something and no one interprets a piece of art in the same way.”
Describing his art as a hobby, Vinesh said creating art was therapeutic and while there was not much of a market to sell art in Newcastle, he would encourage others to arm themselves with an art set and channel their emotions in a constructive way.
“Art is a form of expression that many are too scared to explore. There are lots of talented youngsters out there in Newcastle, and it is going to waste. I would love to open an art school. Look at all Michaelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci did. Why can we not have someone like that emerge from our country?”
Currently, Vinesh is working on a series of paintings, focusing on important parts of former president, Nelson Mandela’s life.
“Mandela is an international icon and I wanted to pay tribute to what he had achieved in his life. I want to put the paintings online and then sell them. Once they have been sold, I will donate a percentage to charity as Madiba always had others’ interests at heart and it is what he would have wanted.”
