Man who died on his way to work identified
Just as they were approaching Ladysmith, they found him lying on the road, with the driver's side door of his car wide open

The man found dead lying next to his car in Newcastle Road on Monday morning has been positively identified by police as 52-year-old Simon Thapelo Moloi.
The Ladysmith Gazette initially received information that a man was lying at the side of the road next to a car. A journalist went out to the scene and found that family members were already there. It is alleged that the man was on his way to work from Matiwaneskop when he started feeling ill and pulled over. It is believed that he got out of the car, collapsed and died.
A family friend who does not want to be named told the Ladysmith Gazette that she received a call from Mr Moloi’s wife early that morning, asking for transport as the wife suspected that something bad had happened to her husband.
The two women immediately headed out to look for Mr Moloi. Just as they were approaching Ladysmith, they found him lying on the road, with the driver’s side door of his car wide open.
When asked if Mr Moloi had been complaining about not feeling well or anything of the sort, the family friend said she was not sure. “He looked as if he had been ‘attacked’ by some sickness,” explained the still shocked woman.
The cause of death is not clear at this stage. According to police communications officer W/O Khan, no foul play is suspected. Police have opened and are investigating an inquest docket.
