IEC worker finally paid – thanks to the Courier!

Courier steps in to help a woman who was not paid by the IEC

False promises and issues of non-payment finally when came to an end for Adhika Ramlagan thanks to the assistance of the Northern Natal Courier.
Ms Ramlagan was employed as an electorate official for the recent National Elections. Stationed at the voting station at the Glencoe Town Hall, Ms Ramlagan worked for the whole election weekend and was informed that she would be paid three weeks later.

However three weeks passed and Ms Ramlagan still didn’t receive payment for her work. Despite numerous calls made to the IEC office, she received nothing but false promises. Ms Ramlagan also complained of the rudeness of the people she spoke too.

“Whenever I queried about my money they told me that the systems were down.” The weeks turned into a month and Ms Ramlagan’s frustration grew. After receiving no joy she approached the Courier. The Provincial IEC was contacted and within the same day they contacted Mrs Ramlagan.

Within the week Ms Ramlagan was paid out for her work. A grateful Ms Ramlagan thanked the Courier, saying that she now knew where to come if she ever needed assistance.
