Burnt rubber spoils horse riding fun

Over 60 people admitted to Dundee Hospital in 12 hours on Dundee July night

While the Dundee July brought plenty of money into the town it left an unpleasant stench behind.  Rubber tyres, used by the 360 Boyz Spinning Club, were reduced to smouldering ash when a section of the large crowd set fire to the rubber barrier in a bid to keep warm on Saturday evening.

The fence, also put up by the 360 Boyz, was trampled on and Preshu Singh of the Club is demanding answers.

“We were supposed to do a spinning demo on Saturday evening but they cancelled it.  Then we were going to have our own ‘chill session’ show on Sunday.  But when we got to the track on Sunday morning we found that all the tyres had been deliberately burnt.

“The fence is also damaged. This will take money and work to fix.  But who is going to pay?  The organisers?”

Guards at the Dundee July said a section of the crowd pelted the stage with bottles when a decision was made to stop the live show at 10pm.  People packing up the equipment on Sunday told the Courier they feared that some of their equipment may have been damaged in the chaos.

Sources said 60 people, most from the Dundee July, were admitted to the Dundee Hospital from 6pm on Saturday to 6am on Sunday.  Most had been stabbed and/or assaulted.  Contrary to rumours, no fatalities were reported.
