Mayor hands out hundreds of thousands of Rands in grants-in-aid

He said, "Sadly demand outstrips supply, and we could not give to everyone this time around."

Hundreds of thousands of Rands have been distributed to youth groups, churches, sports and cultural clubs and other community organisations by Mayor Thulani Mahaye.
Speaking at an official handing-over ceremony, Mayor Mahaye told representatives of various organisations that the grants-in-aid are a way for the municipality to ‘plough back into the town’.

“Your organisations do a lot for our people here. Many of you are willing volunteers. We appreciate your hard work. We hope that these grants-in-aid will assist your organisations. All we ask is that you provide the municipality with feedback so we can ensure that the money is spent wisely.”

He said, “Sadly demand outstrips supply, and we could not give to everyone this time around.”
