Enough is enough
The last straw for residents was when a woman was murdered during the Amcor Dam Music festival on Dcember 27.

Amid numerous complaints about allegedly raucous behaviour at festivities at Amcor Dam, another incident has sparked public outcry.
Last year, controversially, a festival was held when pupils and students were writing examinations. Residents of Ward 5 vehemently opposed the event that left streets littered with rubble and kept residents from sleeping and studying.
The last straw for residents was when a woman was murdered during the Amcor Dam Music festival on Dcember 27.
“We’ve had enough. I don’t know why they still allow it [festival] to happen. It’s the festive period, we know. But these things are just bad,” said a resident who wished to remain anonymous.
According to Newcastle SAPS spokesperson, Warrant Office Simon Luthuli, witnesses alleged a man had an argument with his fiancée at the time regarding a cellphone. In the ensuing argument, the man allegedly grabbed another person’s gun and shot the woman in the head.
“He then turned the gun towards his own head and shot himself,” said W/O Luthuli.
Both people died on scene.
It is believed the couple was from Vryheid.
A case of murder was opened and an inquest has been launched.
