Sewage flows down Centenary Road
The sewer water goes directly into the storm water drain, which in turn flows into the Klip River
Raw sewage has been flowing down Centenary Road for over six months without the problem being fixed, say residents. Motorists who travel that road on a daily basis are tired of the water all over the place, not to mention the stink.
“On certain days, it’s so bad that vehicles have to drive in the oncoming lane to avoid the water,” said one angry person. Motorists are also complaining that their cars are getting dirty.
The sewer water goes directly into the storm water drain, which in turn flows into the Klip River. Some people who live further downstream use river water for drinking, bathing and washing clothes.
In addition, the side of the road has a build-up of algae due to the sewage.
uThukela workers went out when Cllr Abbas Warasally contacted them on Monday morning. They have attended to the leak, but water is still flowing out of the drain.
“When will the problem be fixed for good?” ask residents and motorists alike.
