Glimmer of hope for Lennoxton Library
The fencing of Lennoxton Library has been delayed for several months, while it was expected to have been complete as set out in the 2014/2015 budget.
What was meant to have been a simple project, has become an effort to complete.
The fencing of Lennoxton Library has been delayed for several months, while it was expected to have been complete as set out in the 2014/2015 budget.
The project was postponed after certain irregularities regarding the procurement of the service provider had been discovered by the previous Municipal Manager, Kebone Masange. He put a stop to the project and requested that the project be advertised, following proper Supply Chain Management (SCM) protocol.
That was in November 2014. Two months later, steps have finally being taken to find a service provider to erect the fencing.
Pearl Niemand, Community Services Culture and Amenities Director, said an invitation to tender for the project was advertised on Thursday, January 15.
“Here again, this is an administrative matter. We had budgeted and it is the responsibility of Council to provide funds. The implementation is left to the administrators,” said Cllr Matthew Shunmugam, Portfolio Councillor of Human Settlements.
