As the sun set late last night, Paterson Street’s ‘park of shame’ lit up like New York after dark, thanks to brand new floodlights installed by Newcastle Municipality.
Under the direct instruction of Mayor Afzul Rehman, the lights were to be installed by the end of this week; a strict deadline staff met with ease.
With rumors of ‘revolution’ lingering, Cllr Rehman revealed his plans for Newcastle’s ‘red light district’ in a media briefing earlier this week.
