ABAQULUSI Municipality’s telephone switchboard has finally been fixed. The number 034 982 2133 was fixed on Friday last week, allowing the public after weeks of frustration to contact the municipality by phone.
The Acting Municipal Manager, Ms NN Sibisi, said in an e-mail on Monday this week, “It must be noted that the internal telephone problem has caused internal and external inconvenience.
“Our system is however up and running. The cause of the damage was beyond our control and the delay occurred due to external services that were beyond our control.
“We apologies for any inconvenience cause.”
The municipality’s Media Liaison Officer, Arnold Ramodibe, explained in an e-mail, “On December 10 last year there was a huge storm that ravaged parts of Vryheid. This caused some damage to our telephone system, some of the municipality’s lines were not working while some were still operational. As a result our telephone system was severely constrained.
“The municipality has since replaced the whole PABX system and the telephone system is now fully operational.
“We apologise to our customers and the public for the inconvenience this may have caused.”
