A dry Valentine’s Day expected for Newcastle West

Water interruptions have been scheduled for this Friday and Saturday.

Water cuts are expected to affect Newcastle West this weekend.

The Newcastle Municipality’s water service’s department will be installing a 700mm diameter steel pipeline, which will connect to the existing showground pump station. This work forms part of the municipality’s infrastructure upgrades and service improvement plans.

According to a statement issued from the Municipality’s Communication Department, residents in Arbor Park, Fairleigh, Lennoxton, Paradise, Fernwood, as well as Karbochem, CBD, Newcastle Central, Blackrock Casino and Newcastle Mall will face water interruptions on Friday, February 13, from 5am until noon.

Water interruptions will continue on Saturday, February 14, when the municipality will proceed with the installation of the pipework.

During this time, residents in Amiel Park, Hutten Heights, Pioneer Park, Aviary Hill, Sunnyridge, Schuinshoogte, Signal Hill, Barry Hertzog Park, Amajuba Park and Ncandu Park will be affected by water cuts from 5am until 2am on Sunday, February 15.

During this period, the community residing in the above-mentioned areas are requested to use water sparingly and not to water gardens on these days.
