Combi Court goes to rack and ruin
Vandalism over a period of months has seen the sporting facility degenerate into an eyesore

The Combi Court in Cleome Drive, Acaciavale, is going to waste… A Combi Court is a sporting court that caters for more than one sporting code, including a combination of netball and tennis, or basketball and volleyball. Residents have been complaining about the poor state of the court in Cleome Drive.
The fences and poles have been broken by vandals, which is a heartbreaking sight to sports fanatics living in the area. Instead of enthusiastic youngsters happily engaged in a constructive sporting activity, the grounds have now become a hang-out spot for youngsters who get up to all sorts of mischief. Vandalism over a period of months has seen the sporting facility degenerate into an eyesore.
The aim of the fenced-off court was to allow sport lovers, young and old, to become involved in good, clean fun.
Now, instead of using the facilities properly, youngsters use it as a hang-out, giving the area a “seedy feel”.
Residents are unhappy and worried about the situation.
Over weekends, you will find a few children playing on the court, but it’s sad to see it vandalised and in a state of disrepair. The court is not maintained by the municipality, no repairs are carried out and everything is left as it is.
“We hope someone finds it in their heart to fix the place up so that something good can come of it, instead of making the area look terrible and giving troublemakers yet another place where all sorts of unsavoury things go on,” said a resident.
