In a shocking incident of complete chaos, National Freedom Party Public Relations Councillor, Sibusiso Lukele was assaulted during this week’s Council meeting. on Wednesday.
Allegedly, Cllr had accused the African National Congress (ANC) of hindering the functions of the municipality due to the party’s current political imbalance and division.
The Cllr’s attack at the ruling-party did not go over well with one ANC Coucillor, who met him on the Council floor and attacked.

Democratic Alliance (DA) Constituency Head, Dr Imraan Keeka, posted the video below on his Facebook page while raising the following point, ” This is what the Newcastle municipal council has decayed into… What is to come going into 2016? Unacceptable!! Intolerance has reached new heights.”
The NFP has called for a media briefing next week Monday to address the steps it will be taking regarding the issue.
The councilor who attacked Cllr Lukele has been contacted, and has committed to addressing the matter soon.
