Burford bridge not safe?
This has been the situation for months now and nothing is being done about it

Community members fear for their lives when it comes to crossing a pedestrian bridge situated between Burford and Watersmeet.
The barrier poles on both sides of the structure are virtually non-existent, so someone could easily fall off into the river below. It’s quite a distance to the bottom and someone could be killed or at the very least seriously injured.
This has been the situation for months now and nothing is being done about it.
Community members claim they have phoned the municipality on many occasions, but in vain.
Children use this bridge on a daily basis, making for an incredibly dangerous situation and a tragic accident just waiting to happen.
Area resident Mr Thwala says he’s fed up, as he also uses the bridge every day and can’t stand the thought of a senseless tragedy befalling the community. “We are tired of this state of affairs. Why can’t the municipality see that this is dangerous and sort out the problem,” he fumed.
Pedestrians say they feel dizzy while walking across the bridge because they don’t have anything to hold onto for safety.
“I pray this problem of ours gets sorted out as soon as possible,” added a concerned community member.
