Municipality lights up rural areas
Peacetown and Watersmeet areas to have streetlights erected by the end of June
Emnambithi/Ladysmith Municipality, in its many promises on service delivery, has yet again delivered.
On Tuesday last week, two contractors were introduced to two different wards (Ward 15 Peacetown) and (Ward 16 Watersmeet), where the contractors will be installing streetlights. In Ward 15, the community of Peacetown gathered at the community hall, where RT Tshabalala
Electrical and the consultant, PSMT Consulting Engineers, were introduced to the community. They will be doing the installation.
A total of 90 streetlights will be erected at a cost of R1,500,000. This project is expected to be complete by June 30.
In Ward 16 Watersmeet, people gathered at the Ezimbuzini community hall, together with the contractor, Nkuluzavu Trading CC, and the consultant, PSMT Consulting Engineers. There, as well, a total of 90 streetlights will be erected at a cost of R1,500,000, with the completion date also set for the end of June. As Emnambithi/Ladysmith Municipality continues to deliver on its promise to erect streetlights in rural areas,
Deputy Mayor Sindi Mfusi was in Burford on Wednesday last week. There, she officially switched on 87 streetlights which were erected by
Edison Power at a cost of R1,197,017.41. Ward councillor Mthethwa was also present at the street-lighting ceremony, happy that the municipality is shedding light on the Burford area.
