The initiative, which targets the needy and helps provide improved living conditions for them through the 'pimping' of their homes, was greeted with open arms by the community.
The unique ‘Pimp my house’ initiative was officially launched on Saturday at the town hall, signifying the possibility of a brighter future for many.
The initiative, which targets the needy and helps provide improved living conditions for them through the ‘pimping’ of their homes, was greeted with open arms by the community.
Partnering with the Mayor’s Special Programmes, the organisation is determined to make a difference in Newcastle.
“We will be creating jobs for 45 people when we are fully operational and this will just be our first phase. We hope to become even bigger to help even more members of the community,” said chairperson of the group, Andile Sithole.
He did however specify that the homes the group would be starting off with, would only be partially improved, as organisation is still in its infancy.
“For now we will target those rooms that will make the lives of everyone living in the home a bit better.”
He explained if an application was successful, and the potential home has three bedrooms and one kitchen, the group would look at improving the kitchen, so that all the occupants could enjoy the benefits of the renovation.
Mr Sithole thanked the community for assistance in helping to found the project and the anticipated development it would bring to the community.
