Municipality is hit!

In a heinous stab at authority in town, the ‘colour vandals’ have laid waste to the Newcastle Municipality.

On Tuesday morning, municipal officials arriving at work were greeted by a kaleidoscope of colours and were left with one question in mind… “Why?”

Last week, Mayor Afzul Rehman, spoke out against the vandals, labelling them as ‘terrorists’ who had no regard for businesses in town.

“I want to condemn in the strongest possible terms the actions of these vandals defacing properties around Newcastle,” said Cllr Rehman.

This week though, it seems the vandals got their own back, as they targeted the very home of stability and order in town.

The plaques that adorn the Scott Street municipal entrance, were vandalised, as well as the entrance to the municipal block.

An official statement from the municipality was not forthcoming at the time of going to print, but municipal sources have revealed that an investigation has been launched into the matter.

Allegedly, the vandals had arrived at the municipality during the evening, under pretence of having a meeting with an on-duty official.

Municipal sources confirmed security personal of the municipality could identify the suspects, but they have denied all allegations against them.

Investigations into the incidents are ongoing, and an appeal has been made to the public to bring any possible evidence regarding the vandals to the attention of officials.
