Dannhauser treads water as problems rise
Residents expressed fury at being forced to wait at the Dannhauser grounds for almost an hour, until it was determined the district municipality had bailed out on the community again.
Dannhauser residents are considering further measures against water authorities.
They have promised account payments will dry up, should water woes not be resolved with urgency, following a failed meeting between them and Amajuba District Municipality in March.
The second of these meetings was scheduled for March 19.

Two Dannhauser residents have since pledged to take the matter even further.
According to sister paper, Northern KZN Courier, Pravin Nair and Colin Krause, who headed community protests, said their days of dealing with the district municipality were over, and are taking concerns to higher powers.
Mr Nair said decisions from authorities lacked logic.
Among issues raised are numerous illegal connections, the writing off of certain accounts, why residents pay the same amount for sewerage and water usage, and Dannhauser’s lack of a satellite office for such concerns.
Residents also want rude phone service at the district office addressed.
“If we had a office in town, people could report faults directly, job cards could be filled out and problems could be fixed immediately,” said Mr Nair.
Mr Krause added an appeal would be sent to COGTA MEC, Nomusa Dube-Ncube.
The intervention is surely needed, residents believe, stating the situation has become desperate.
“It’s clear the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing at the municipality,” Mr Nair added.
