NOTICE: Brace yourself for dry times

Madadeni will be without water on two separate days, while certain Newcastle suburbs will be affected by water interruptions.

Newcastle and Madadeni residents can expect water cuts in the coming week.

On April 21, from 8am until 5pm, Newcastle Municipality will be installing bulk water meters on the Blaauwbosch and Madadeni (Section 7) water supply pipelines, as part of the water conservation and demand management programme.

According to a statement released from the municipal Communications Department, due to the extensive work load, the whole of Madadeni will undergo a scheduled water supply interruption.

On the same day, also from 8am until 5pm, Karbochem, Riverside Industrial area, CBD, Lennoxton, Paradise, Arbor Park and Suryaville will experience a planned water outage.

During this period, the municipality plans to install a new outlet water connection between the existing and new reservoirs at Hilldrop.

Madadeni will experience another planned water supply interruption on April 28, from 8am until 5pm.

This will be due to the installation of new bulk water meters on the Madadeni Section 6 and Meadowlands water supply pipelines.

During the water supply interruptions, residents are requested to use water sparingly.

Residents are encouraged to continue reporting any water leaks, burst pipes and to fix any leaks in their properties to save water.
