Resident fears sink hole
Fearing a possible sink-hole, Mr Liebenberg said approximately nine families lived along Eekhoring Place and one could not ignore the threat posed by the damaged road surface.
Are residents living on Eekhoring Place, Amajuba Park, driving over a ticking time-bomb?
Water started gushing from a small hole in the road during the course of the Easter weekend. Apart from being concerned about the water wastage, a resident, Hansie Liebenberg, noticed a potential hazard.
“The leak started in Saturday, April 4 and my wife and I both reported the water leak. However, we noticed the tar was getting soft,” he said.
The tar had become so soft, Mr Liebenberg was able to move it with his hands. “If I can move it with my hands, how soft is the ground underneath and what if a car goes over the spot and sinks?” he asked.

“Who will pay for the damages if a car goes over and sinks?” he asked.
The Newcastle Municipality was contacted for comment, but no statement was forthcoming at the time of going to print.
