Grass woes the result of staff shortages

Owing to a lack of staff in the Community Services department, alternative measures have to be taken to curb the problem of long grass on non-municipal property.
One such measure is opening the matter up for tender.
Head of Parks, Recreation and Cleansing, Vish Govender said a report in this line was with the relevant portfolio committee, and would be tabled before the Executive Committee soon.

Responding to the article which appeared in the Advertiser at the beginning of April, Mr Govender said the tree outside Ashok Mithai’s house was cut down to prevent it from falling over.
The current cutting schedule has also been changed.
Nick Swanepoel of Waste Management explained the skip had indeed been removed due to the numerous complaints received by residents.
He suggested other skips in the area or at the Farmers Hall be utilised.
In terms of the concrete pillars mentioned by resident, Tony Nair, Mr Swanepoel said this would be impossible as the land was privately owned.
