March to end xenophobia and crime

The African National Congress (ANC) held a march in Ezakheni on Friday morning with the aim of fighting crime and especially the scourge of xenophobia.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Forestry & Fisheries Bheki Cele led the march, with hundreds of people taking part.

The march started in Ezakheni D-section, snaking its way to the police station in A-section.

A large number of ANC supporters took to the streets, dancing, singing and holding placards aloft as they walked along. The placards bore messages such as “down with rape”, “stop xenophobia” and “we are all African”.

Deputy Minister Cele was in the area to spread awareness and stop the rampant crime, and also make sure xenophobia does not rear its ugly head in this part of the world.

ABI set up a water table that provided the marchers with cold water and Powerade to keep them going. Police and Public Safety were on hand to make sure everything ran smoothly and didn’t get out of hand.
