Determined to reduce crime within the Central Business District even when he is not on duty, Warrant Officer Sascha Naidoo made yet another arrest on Saturday morning.
At 11am the sidewalks of the CBD were filling up, and the usual honking of the taxis’ horns was deafening.
The traffic meant that pickpockets in the area were out and about trying to make a quick buck.
An elderly man brushed past a 13-year-old boy. Before the boy could realise it, his phone was gone, and the elderly man was tearing down the street with the agility of a much younger man.
W/O Naidoo was in the area, and upon noticing the commotion, he and other community members gave chase.
“It was like Sascha had his Ducatti shoes on or something, the way he ran up the street like he was boosting 195kw,” said a businessman in the area.
The businessman explained on Monday the suspect was released and had been asking around for W/O Naidoo.
“Sascha puts his life on the line for us even when he is off-duty. The suspect was released and is already back on the tsotsi train.”
