Public Safety officers remove shacks in Settlers Drive

The team descended on the area and began ripping down illegal homes

Public Safety officers, together with other municipal workers, broke down shacks in Settlers Drive this morning (Tuesday).

The team descended on the area and began ripping down the illegal homes.

Vagrants and prostitutes live in these makeshift dwellings, and were unpleasantly surprised when they saw the officers begin with their task. The shack dwellers quickly removed their belongings before the “destruction” began.

According to Public Safety, it is a contravention of municipal bylaws for people to simply erect shacks anywhere.

It took the officers and municipal workers just over an hour to rip everything down and take it away.
