WATER CUTS: Taps run dry

"This is an emergency situation and we are working as hard as I possible to return services to the area."

Madadeni residents are currently experiencing water shortages after the main feeder pipe to the area was ruptured yesterday, confirmed municipal sources.

The pipe feeds most of the suburbs in the area, and currently municipal staff are working to address the matter.
Fifteen roaming water tankers are in the area, taking water to the people, but community members are feeling the pinch.

A senior municipal official advised residents to be patient during this time. “This is an emergency situation and we are working as hard as I possible to return services to the area.”

The source explained replacement pipes had been constructed earlier today by the municipality.
He said municipal workers were currently engaged in installing the new pipe, and hoped the bulk water supply to most of the areas would be returned later tonight or tomorrow morning.
He confirmed feedback would be given later tonight as more work was completed.
