THE MUNICIPAL department where you renew your car licence was closed on Thursday and Friday this week. It has not been confirmed by the Director of Community Services but the word is that the entire staff of five people are all sick.

As if this was not strange enough, a notice on the closed door of the facility, signed by the Director of Community Services, AB Mnikathi, anticipates that the staff will simultaneously recover to allow the office to reopen on Monday, May 25.

In the notice, the Director expressed her regret for any inconvenience that this synchronised sickness caused the public. Presumably, Human Resources at the municipality will expect and obtain synchronised doctors’ sick notes when the staff return.

The Mayor, Municipal Manager, Director Community Services and Media Liaison Officer have been asked for comment, but have yet to do so.
