Nquthu Council Speaker shot and killed in school classroom
One of the two children who had been injured in the shooting has also passed away.

The Nquthu Council Speaker, Vusi Ntombela, was shot and killed at the Luvisi Primary School, earlier today.
According to the Northern KwaZulu-Natal Courier, Mr Ntombela was shot three times.
Allegedly, a lone gunman walked into the classroom and shot Mr Ntombela.
The bullets struck him in the head, chest and neck. Two school children were also injured in the incident, one of whom passed away.
The other child is currently receiving treatment at a nearby medical centre. The gunman and two alleged accomplices were apprehended soon after attempting to flee the scene.
The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA), Nomusa Dube-Ncube, said she was shocked and disturbed by the incident.
In her statement, MEC Dube-Ncube said: “The death of a councillor who is an elected servant of the people leaves a gaping void in the sphere of local government and has robbed us of one more foot soldier in our fight against poverty, inequality and unemployment.”
