UPDATE: Water begins to be restored

Across town the luxury of water has been returned to many residents, although others are still waiting for the familiar sound of water running through their pipes.
While many residents in Paradise, Lennoxton, Arbor Park, Hutten Heights, Fairliegh and Fernwood have all reported water has returned, others within the same suburbs still have no access to water.
This factor is related to the pressure systems, and the water lines a person’s home may be connected to.
“A major factor which must be taken into consideration is the fact that the reservoirs were completely emptied during the last two days,” explained municipal sources.
This resulted in the restoration of water services taking much longer than expected.
Currently, the Signal Hill Reservoir has still not been completely refilled, resulting in many homes remaining water-less.
According to DA councillor, Bebsie Cronje, this reservoir is expected to only be completely filled by midday today, and only then will many residents begin to receive water.

Under ideal circumstances, a changeover of the pipelines – as was conducted by the municipality yesterday – would take approximately 24 hours. Municipal workers managed to complete this task between 6am and 5pm yesterday.
The factor which remains and issue and continues hindering the water services, is the pressure systems within the pipelines and reservoir systems.
