Battlefields festival kicks off in style
Mayor Cllr VM Madlala also took part in the proceedings by pushing a gun with his team of Municipal officials and members of the SANDF

The 5th Battlefields Festival kicked off in style at the Town Hall on Saturday morning. The proceedings began with the Community Gun Run, a race which involved our Mayor, as well as teams from all the wards in the Ladysmith area taking part.
The Gun Run involves teams of 8 pushing a gun from the Town Hall, down Murchison Street towards the Engen garage and then back towards Maxis, ending up at the Town Hall again. The team that completes the run within the shortest time is declared the winner.
Mayor Cllr VM Madlala graced the event by pushing a gun, with his team of Municipal officials and members of the SANDF.
The large crowds of people that gathered at the Town Hall even before the Gun Run started, were entertained by the Andante drummies and Hamilton marimba band .
Public Safety officers made sure that traffic was controlled for the safety of the participants, and Sharaj Ambulance Services were also on hand to make sure that everyone was safe.
All in all, it was a day enjoyed by all, even those who watched the heated action from the side-lines.
