Joshua's mother, Thea van Tonder, raised numerous concerns regarding her son's treatment at Newcastle Provincial Hospital and requested the matter be investigated.
Baby ‘J’ is on the road to recovery!
The bubbly tot turned six-months-old on Wednesday, despite contracting a viral infection that almost claimed his life last month.
Joshua’s mother, Thea van Tonder, raised numerous concerns regarding her son’s treatment at Newcastle Provincial Hospital and requested the matter be investigated.
Claiming her son was practically left to die, Ms van Tonder said she wanted an explanation as to why Joshua was disregarded by supposed ‘caregivers’.
She recently expressed her distrust of a system specifically put in place to tend to the needs of women and children via the media.
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health was contacted for comment on June 12. However, no response was forthcoming.
“Joshua is doing great,” said Ms van Tonder. “I wonder if the Department of Health will ever get back to us; that hospital is a place that just doesn’t care.”
Upon completion of the department’s investigation, a full report will be published in the Newcastle Advertiser.
As the family anxiously awaits answers, they cannot help but thank God that Joshua is still with them today!
