Water leak in Palm Street for over a month
The leak causes the whole street to have low water pressure, not to mention all the water that is going to waste as it flows down the road
Palm Street has been hit hard by a water leak that has not been fixed in over a month.
A main water pipe continues to leak daily, causing endless problems for residents of the area.
Palm Street resident Mr Jay Mungal says he has been reporting the problem to uThukela for over a month now and they have still not done anything about it.
The leak causes the whole street to have low water pressure, not to mention all the water that is going to waste as it flows down the road.
Parents are worried that their little ones may get sick if they play in the water.
IFP National Council member Cllr Abbas Warasally commented that, “A story was run in last week’s edition of the Ladysmith Gazette saying that water restrictions are to hit Ladysmith and surrounding areas hard. If uThukela could only repair burst pipes timeously, maybe Ladysmith would not be hit so hard in these drought conditions.”
Cllr Warasally also reported the burst pipe to uThukela on numerous occasions during the last month, but still nothing has been done.
