Raymond gets star treatment at the Premier’s Awards

Senior Provincial Inspector, Raymond Oosthuizen finally achieved celebrity status.

This year, he was invited to attend the Premier’s Service Excellence Awards as a VIP guest; an honour Mr Oosthuizen is incredibly proud of.

The gala dinner was held at International Convention Centre in Durban on July 16.

In 2014, he walked away with two coveted awards for his commitment to making a difference as an officer of the Road Traffic Inspectorate.

Mr Oosthuizen said his contribution to the field in previous years was more marked, and felt it best not to enter this year.

“It was interesting to attend the awards because there was no pressure on me; I wasn’t competing against anyone,” he explained. “I felt a bit awkward for not taking part, but the experience was amazing nonetheless.”

Mr Oosthuizen said he was taken aback by the treatment he received as a VIP guest.

“I was a celebrity for the night; I felt like a million bucks!” he exclaimed.

Even though he did not ‘bring home the bacon’ for Newcastle, everybody still loves Raymond!
