3-month water leak in Jan Smuts Avenue
Residents are tired of clean drinking water flowing down the road day and night

A burst water pipe in Jan Smuts Avenue has been leaking for over three months now.
The pipe has been worked on by uThukela, but hasn’t been fixed properly.
Residents in the area are tired of clean drinking water flowing down the road day and night, into a storm water drain.
Christopher Fobian notified Councillor Abbas Warasally and he went out to the area to assess the situation.
Residents say the leak is an eyesore in the street, as the ground is just left after uThukela works on the pipe. There is mud all over the side of the road and also on the sidewalk. Residents don’t have a front yard because of all the mud.
Cllr Warasally says that uThukela has failed, as they cannot seem to fix the burst pipes all over town.
Those affected are now desperately asking when the problem will be resolved.
“How difficult can it be to fix a burst pipe? It’s uThukela’s job and something they do all the time. Letting this go on for three months is just plain pathetic!” fumed one resident.
