A week-old water pipe leak outside the Sibisi’s home in Aloe Street has already caused significant damage inside the property. The soggy lawn and damp walls are a growing concern for the family who fear that their health and home are at risk.
Mr Sibisi, who works in Gauteng, had to take time off and return to Estcourt last week after Uthukela District Municipality did not repair the leak when it was first reported last Tuesday.
The leak was again reported on Wednesday and Thursday. “A staff member came, looked and then left,” said an angry Mr Sibisi.
The cause of the leak is stemming from a pipe outside the family’s home.
A trail water cuts through the front yard before pooling at the buildings at the back of the house. “This water leak is damaging my home and making us sick.
“Even though we have done the right thing and reported the leak immediately, Uthukela is providing bad service,” added Mr Sibisi.
Uthukela District Municipality’s communication division was notified of Mr Sibisi’s concerns.
