Sewage nightmare to be resolved

For the past 15 years, Christelle Venter periodically had to deal with raw sewage flooding her home.
However, it seems her nightmare is soon to become a thing of the past.
Dr Dumisani Thabethe, Water Services Customer Relations Manager of the municipality, said the cause of the problem was that the main line was blocking up, resulting in sewage backing up into the resident’s yard and home.
He said water services would attempt to re-lay the collapsed pitch fibre sewer pipe from manhole to manhole.
Dr Thabethe encouraged the community to report leaking pipes to the water services to its call centre on 0860 144 144.
